Appleseed event

Saturday, February 18, 2012 - 08:00 - Sunday, February 19, 2012 - 17:00

We have an Project Appleseed event scheduled for our range on February 18-19 at the action pistol range. This nationwide rifle marksmanship program is one of the fastest growing shooting events in the country and has taught over 40,000 shooters since its inception. Project Appleseed is an activity of The Revolutionary War Veterans Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to teaching every American our shared heritage and history as well as traditional rifle marksmanship skills. Students will learn skills that, if practiced, will allow them to be accurate with rifles out to 500 yards using a rack grade rifle and surplus ball ammo. Field positions of standing, sitting, kneeling, and prone are taught using a sling as a shooting aid. Iron sights or scopes are both acceptable and any functional safe rifle from .22 to 8mm can be used. The approximate round count for the weekend is 500. Many people will want to use a .22 for the first day (or both days) in order to save ammunition costs. Most of the shooting will be from 25 meters using reduced scale targets. Ages from pre-teen to octagenarian are invited. The costs are quite modest ranging from $70 (pre-registered price) to free. Please review the links below on costs, what to bring, and how to prepare in order to get the most out of the program. Pre-registration is highly recommended as this shoot will likely fill up and the number of spots is limited.
