Still Too Many Guns?! UK Gun Controllers Full-Steam Ahead

In the U.S., sophisticated gun control advocates are careful to disguise their near-term aims as “common sense” reforms or “reasonable” gun safety measures. But what happens when all of these so-called “common sense” controls have been enacted? Will gun control advocates acknowledge their victory and permit the few remaining gun owners to live in peace? If recent experience in the United Kingdom is any indication, gun control advocates will not stop short of demanding total civilian disarmament.

Tattoo shop owner catches burglar in the act

A repeat robber narrowly escaped with his life Wednesday morning after an Albuquerque tattoo shop owner caught him in the act and opened fire.  Alvino Maestas's has been hit by burglars four times since Christmas, and he now sleeps next to a motion detector that alerts him when someone is inside the building. He heard an alert early Wednesday morning and raced to his shop on Lomas near Louisiana. 

Burglary suspect shot in Frisco apartment

Police are investigating after a 43-year-old man was shot during an apparent burglary Thursday.According to Frisco Police, officers were called to Stewart Creek Apartments in the 7500 block of Stonebrook Parkway. Shortly after midnight, officers received a 911 call to report someone was shot while attempting to break into an apartment. 

Pennsylvania: “Universal” Background Check Bill Introduced in the General Assembly

Recently, House Bill 1400, legislation which would expand background checks to include all private sales and transfers, was introduced in the Keystone state.  Sponsored by state Representative James Santora (R-163), HB 1400 would require an individual to seek a licensed firearm dealer to conduct a criminal background check prior to purchasing or transferring a firearm to another individual, including purchases at gun shows.  Additionally, an individual would have to obtain 72-hour background check approval if the individual wanted to make more than one purchase without having to pay for multiple background checks.  

California: Legislative Update

Today, June 2, marked the deadline for bills to pass from their house of origin. Four anti-gun bills and one pro-hunting bill have satisfied this deadline and will continue to move through the legislative process.

A well-known advocate for gun control stops in central Ohio to call for a change in laws.Mark Kelly, the husband of former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords who was severely injured in an assassination attempt, joined the Ohio Coalition for Common Sense Wednesday in this mission.

California gun fee upheld over NRA objections

The National Rifle Association and other advocacy groups sued the state in August 2011, arguing that the fee placed an unjustifiable financial burden on Californians exercising their right to buy and own guns. They noted that most of the fee-payers were legal gun owners.
