Iowa: Critical Self-Defense Law Takes Effect July 1!

Tomorrow, July 1, the provisions of House File 517, go into effect.  Thanks to your active involvement last session, this bill was signed by Governor Branstad on April 23, 2017.  HF 517 marks a step forward in protecting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Iowans across the Hawkeye State.

In January, President Donald Trump tweeted that he’d “send in the Feds!” to Chicago, citing the city’s miserable statistics on shootings.Well, his administration did just that.On Thursday, authorities confirmed that about 20 additional agents with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have been sent to Chicago to combat gun violence here.

California: Federal Judge Grants Request to Stay Enforcement of California’s Magazine Ban

Today, attorneys for the California Rifle & Pistol Association, supported by the National Rifle Association, obtained an important injunction in the case of Duncan v. Becerra, a federal lawsuit challenging California’s restrictions against standard capacity magazines. The injunction prevents California from enforcing the recently enacted ban against the mere possession of magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds, while the case is pending.

19-year-old shoots man trying to break into apartment

Police said a teenager shot and killed a man Monday as he attempted to break into the teen’s apartment in DeKalb County, Georgia. Malik Hyatt, 19, told police he heard someone banging on the door of his apartment and trying to kick it in early Monday morning.  Hyatt said he looked through the peephole and saw a man he did not know with something by his side. He told his 22-year-old sister to go to her room, grabbed a gun and shot through the door twice.

Suspect hospitalized after reported attempted robbery turned shooting

A man has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after an attempted robbery led to a shooting, according to Sgt. Shelton with Birmingham Police. The incident took place on the 1300 block of Pike Road, where the suspect was shot three times in the course of allegedly committing the robbery and taken to Princeton Hospital, according to police. At this time, there is no one in custody. WIAT will bring you more details as they emerge.

Sapulpa Woman Fires Gun During Dog Attack

A woman walking her dog in Sapulpa fired shots when she said a loose dog attacked her and her pet, according to police. The woman was in a neighborhood in the 1400 block of North Main when she told police a dog escaped its fence and went after her dog around 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 27. The dogs started fighting, and the woman fired shots, an officer told News On 6. The woman told police she was bitten in the process. Police said the loose dog was not wounded, but it was picked up by animal control. The woman, who has a concealed carry permit, was taken to the hospital by her husband, the officer said. We don't know her condition.

Woman in wheelchair scares off burglars by showing gun

A woman, who lives on Cleveland’s west side, said she felt safe in her home until last week. “It was last Monday morning around 10:30,” Melinda Vandal told Fox 8. “I looked at the door and there was a man, right there, right outside looking like he was going for my door.”
